So last month I blog about wanting a pie shop with puns for names, and last week one OPENED. Coincidence?

Does Dangerously Delicious Pies (a Baltimore import) read my blog? Absolutely not. Am I taking full credit for their existence on H Street? 110%.

Marion Berry Pie with "rock" candy topping

Look, I know that I have like 7 readers (thanks friends!) but doesn’t it seem a bit of a coincidence that only a month ago I make an appeal to hipster chefs of the world to abandon cupcakes in favor of other dessert snacks? I then outlined why a pie shop specifically would suit their hipster sensibilities even suggesting some punned pie names to get them started, such as President Pie-den and Pievel goes West (see my oracle of a blog entry HERE).

And now lo! A pie shop appears!!!! And one that serves sweet and savory pies (including quiche) no less. I know some of you probably think meat pies are gross. That some of you is wrong. I spent an undisclosed amount of time in New Zealand where meat pies were a staple for SPY, especially after a few beers. Dangerously Delicious Pies makes all pies from fresh ingredients, rolls all crusts by hand and takes pie orders for the holidays. Perfection. Some pics:

In the words of Liz Lemon, I want to go there.

(OH. and apparently Marion Berry IS an actual berry (see comments) so I took away the quotations. Who knew?)

  1. HA. I had NO idea that was an actual berry. good catch! However, I will still lay claim to it as it is a play on words (with the “rock” candy topping especially). I think that basically counts? Hopefully?

  2. and behold, the hipster answers your call. I can tell you from experience, the quiche are awesome. Im a dude so pie doesnt interest me, only things with protein and things with Danger in the title…

The original is down the street from my bar in Bmore…ChocolateCity is about to get covered in Charm. Although, i am a bit upset that this is the one restaurant/food/style that is the ambassador. Wait, second thought…I wanna keep the really rad stuff for myself.

  3. I can tell you that the pie is awesome. I’ve tried the Pecan, the Baltimore Bomb, one of the fruit ones I can’t remember, and two of the quiches. That was in one sitting…
