…here in my windowless cube.
Sigh. Nothing is more depressing than a windowless cube and a low-fat yogurt cup. Seems like today will reach triple digit temperatures again. It’s supposed to be even hotter than yesterday. However, the good news is DCR public pools are open two hours earlier (at 11am) and close an hour later (9pm). Libraries also have extended hours, for those that want to spend some quiet time reading in the AC rather than laying out. Details on both here.
SPY and her admirers
Since pools are all the rage right now, anyone have any DC pool recommendations? I have been to the Volta Pool in Georgetown, it’s nice, quite small though, and intimidatingly filled with beautiful people. It also has no children, so no worries about…accidents. I have also been to the Old Town Alexandria pool, which is bigger and has an ice cream truck (plus), but is much more kid-oriented (minus). However, neither are the best for swimming laps.
The Washington Post lists these as their favorites, but I am open to recommendations. Bueller?
And yes, for those that didn’t already guess, the pool pictures are from The Sandlot. It’s Wendy Peffercorn and the gang, most notably Michael “Squints” Palledorous, her biggest fan. I had a very small gecko named Smalls you know. He was named after Smalls in the film and lived from 1994 to 2007. He was also a member of the PTA for 4 years with his membership card taped to his tank. However, despite my affection for Smalls, my heart belonged to “Benny the Jet” Rodriguez.
I think all of ours did. Happy heat wave.
